Cascades Trail Run

The Cascades Trail Run takes place on a purpose-built trail network in the heart of Pietermaritzburg. Runners can expect winding single-track that weaves through serene gum and pine plantations, indigenous forests, and pockets of bamboo, all offering incredible views over the city below.

The area is rich in biodiversity, with primary forests featuring lemonwood and yellowwood trees, and regular sightings of bushbuck and other wildlife. Birdlife is abundant, and for the lucky few, the majestic crowned eagle may even make an appearance.

Longer routes venture along the Ferncliffe ridgeline before turning back toward the city via flowing trails, delivering a true trail experience just minutes from urban comforts. With the venue located adjacent to Cascades Shopping Centre, runners and supporters can also enjoy excellent on-site facilities.
